Section III - General Rules

  1. FLAGS:

GREEN - Start of race

YELLOW - Caution, reduce speed, no passing. Get single file behind the car you were behind when the caution came out. If you were side by side with another car, please get single file anyway. The scorers will check each lineup before we go green to make sure it is correct.

BLACK -

Rolled up and pointed at YOU - You are on the borderline for a penalty or disqualification for unsportsmanlike conduct.  A warning is a courtesy for minor infractions.  The flagger MAY black flag anyone at any time WITHOUT A WARNING if he feels it is warranted.

Open Black Flag - you have been disqualified for safety reasons or unsportsmanlike behavior, proceed to the pit area immediately. Anyone not pitting within 2 laps of being black flagged will no longer be scored. If they continue to ignore the black flag and a caution has to be thrown due to a problem caused by them or because the safety issue got so severe that it endangered other drivers, the driver will be suspended for one week.

RED - Stop where you are, shut off your engine if instructed to do so. Stay with your kart. We will move the field to a safe area on the track and get the lineup right as soon as safely possible.

BLUE/YELLOW - The leaders are about to catch you. Be aware of them, and consider moving to the bottom and allowing them to pass.

ANY 2 FLAGS CROSSED -

Under Caution: Get double file for the upcoming restart.

Under Green: The race is 1/2 over

ANY 2 FLAGS ROLLED UP AND DISPLAYED SIDE BY SIDE -

Indicates 2 laps to go.

b. TRACK RENTAL

Due to Wyalusing Township regulations, WVMP is NOT available for rental. We are working to have this provision added to our permit, but at this time we are unable to rent use of the track for any purpose.

  1. PIT RESERVATIONS

As a courtesy, racers may reserve a pit spot for the 2008 season. A sign with the racer’s number and last name will be posted to mark those spots. Pit spots will be filled beginning closest to the track and working away from it, unless the racer requests a particular spot.

  1.
    1. PRICE: 2008 prices for a reserved spot is $35/with track license or $45 without.

    2. NUMBER OF VEHICLES ALLOWED: The maximum number of race vehicles allowed per reserved spot is 1.5. A slingshot or micro count as 1 vehicle, a kart counts as half a vehicle. If your team has more than 1.5 vehicles, you will need two pit spots.

    3. RESERVING SPOT: Pit spots can be reserved in person either at the track at events, or at the track office on River Road, Wysox, PA, or via mail at RR #2 Box 48G, Wysox, PA 18854. Call 570-265-8974 with any questions. NO SPOTS WILL BE HELD UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED!!!

      6. Anyone injured must notify a track official of their injuries right away. Some minor injuries can become more severe with time. If you leave the track without reporting an injury, it could potentially develop into a problem later. You must inform us of any injury WHEN IT HAPPENS to be covered under the track insurance!

      7. Everyone in the pit area must have a wristband and must sign in.

      8. Each team must have a working A-B-C Type fire extinguisher in their pit area.

      9. Teams may bring and use their own ATV for the purposes of pushing off their own car. Anyone willing to help push off other cars as well would be greatly appreciated. Careless operation of an ATV will result in the operator’s privileges being revoked on the FIRST OFFENSE!

      10. A race may be stopped at any time if the flagman or a track official considers it dangerous or unsafe to continue racing.

      11. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 16 for them to be admitted to the pit area. Anyone entering the pit area under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

      12. Drivers may run in as many divisions as desired provided that:

        1.
          1. The car and driver meet all requirements for each division it competes in at that time.

          2. Any changes to the car/driver do not interfere with tech inspection or the tracks schedule of events. The track will not alter it’s schedule or hold up the start of any race waiting for such changes.

          3. Drivers running the same kart in multiple divisions may wait to perform engine tech until the end of their final race of the day. The tech officials will make note of specific characteristics of the engine to be teched to be sure it is the one that was raced in the earlier event.

      13. All special events will be run under track rules. Any exceptions will be announced prior to the event.

      14. All cars must be pushed to the staging area. Car may drive off the track SLOWLY as far as the scales, but must be shut off and pushed back to your pit. REMEMBER - THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THE PITS! Anyone speeding or driving in a dangerous manner will be penalized at the discretion of WVMP officials.

      15. No one is allowed to enter the track under red flag conditions except for officials, unless requested to do so by a track official.

      16. All track officials have the power and authority to disqualify or suspend the driver, car and any other person for violation of rules and other infractions falling under their jurisdiction. Anyone not acting within the speedway’s rules and regulations will be penalized at WVMP officials discretion.

      17. The scorer/announcers area is for WVMP personnel only! No one other than staff is permitted unless requested by a track official.

      18. RAIN OUTS - Admission and entry fees will be good for the following week’s event only. Your wristband (pits) or ticket stub (grandstands) MUST be kept and shown the following week.

        1.
          1. KARTS: A show will be considered complete upon completion of all kart heats, at which point there will be NO rain checks. NO refunds will be given. Divisions rained out will run double features at a future date. ONLY cars that were on hand and qualified on the original race date will be allowed to run in the rained out feature.

          2. SLINGSHOTS/MICROS: A show will be considered complete upon completion of all slingshot/micro heats, at which point there will be NO rain checks. NO refunds will be given. Divisions rained out will run double features at a future date. ONLY cars that were on hand and qualified on the original race date will be allowed to run in the rained out feature. If the kart program is considered complete but the slingshot/micro heats have not begun, the slingshot/micro drivers/crews must stop at the pit ticket building and pick up a free pass for the following week.

          3. ENTRANTS WITH BOTH KARTS AND SLINGSHOTS/MICROS: Those with a pit pass that are on hand with both karts and slingshots/micros must stop and pick up a half price pass good for the following week.

          4. NOTE: We work very hard to accommodate the racers. If a rainout occurs, and you KNOW that you cannot make next weeks event due to work schedule or a previous commitment, you may request that your entry fee and passes be honored on another date, under the following conditions:

            1.
              1. You MUST make this request BEFORE leaving the track on the day of the rainout.

              2. You MUST inform us of the exact date they will be used.

              3. You must pay the difference if that date is a special show.

      19. All engines MUST be shut off prior to crossing the scales.

      20. All rules are intended to be the official track rules. However, we reserve the right to amend and adjust any of the wording and interpretations as situations arise, either before or after the racing season begins. We have constructed these rules to the best of our ability to encourage safety, equality of competition, and fairness to all concerned. There is no expressed or implied warranty or guarantee of any of the above. Each year there are those who interpret these rules in their own manner and get into trouble. We wrote the rules, we know what they say and we know what they mean. It is your responsibility to build, buy and race legal equipment by our rules and to follow these rules while on the track and in the pit area. Do not be misled into using unsafe or illegal hardware. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. If you have a question regarding a rule, please ask.

  1. PROCEDURES/SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  1.
    1.
      1. All race vehicles are subject to safety inspection at any time. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN A SAFE RACE VEHICLE! Safety Tech is to check your vehicle for obvious safety issues. This inspection is to try to make sure you are “safe”, not “legal”. You, the competitor, are responsible for building and maintaining your car according to legal specifications. Meeting the track’s safety requirements and passing the track’s safety inspection IN NO WAY guarantees that injuries cannot occur. Racing can be a dangerous sport, and can result in injury/death. By entering and competing in any track event, the competitor assumes ALL risk associated with the construction, maintainence, and operation of their racing vehicle with no liability expressed or implied by the speedway or it’s employees.

      2. No team members are allowed on the track surface AT ANY TIME during a race event, unless assistance is requested by a track official. NO repairs are allowed on the track surface. Crews/drivers will be allowed on the track during intermission to check on the track’s condition.

      3. INTENTIONALLY CHEATING TO GAIN AN ADVANTAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!! If there is something you are unclear on in the rules, ASK FIRST! If you are caught with something questionable later, and it is deemed to be outside what the track intended, you WILL be DQ’d! If it is something completely untouched on by the rules, we will make a decision on whether it will be allowed. The driver in question will not be penalized, but will be required to remove questionable part if it is deemed illegal. Once a decision is made, the rule will be amended to the rulebook on the website and announced to the competitors to promote a level playing field.

      4. Anyone failing to pass tech inspection after a qualifying event will be disqualified, will lose any points earned in the heat race, and will start last in the consi/feature, provided the problem has been resolved. Anyone failing tech after a consi/feature will be disqualified and will receive NO money or points for the ENTIRE day’s events.

      5. Any car failing to take the initial green flag in their assigned event may NOT join the field after the initial green has been given. You MUST take the initial green in your feature event in order to get paid and receive points for that event.

      6. The flagman will control the start of the race as conditions of track permit. If your kart experiences a problem at the grid, prior to the green flag, you will be given two laps to get on the track. The car will be removed from the event if unsuccessful.

      7. Drivers paying their entry fee prior to the heat races, but failing to take the green in their assigned heat race, may start at the rear of their feature (for example, they break during practice and can’t have the car ready for the heat race – they can still run the feature. NOTE: Entry fee for the entry in question MUST be paid PRIOR to the heat race in that division (in other words, a late arrival cannot pull in ten minutes before the feature, unload, and start at the rear).

      8. Both the car and the driver must qualify. A driver may change cars after qualifying, provided that the car he switches to is also qualified. However, said driver will be required to start at the rear. Driver change MUST be reported to track officials a minimum of 10 minutes prior to the start of their race or they will be DQ’d. NO DRIVER may qualify in more than one car! EXAMPLE: Driver A and Driver B both race and qualify. During the heat, Driver A’s engine burnt a piston and he cannot repair it in time. Driver B can put Driver A in his car for the race, but Driver A must start last. Driver B can start in Driver A’s car (to get tow money and points), but must also start at the rear.

      9. Racers with mechanical problems who can SAFELY and QUICKLY exit to the pits, please do so. If unable to exit the track, please pull well into the infield to avoid a caution. All broken cars will be removed immediately from the infield following their race, or during any extended cautions if possible.

      10. No laps will be given for change or repair of flat tires.

      11. Driver’s with mechanical problems may make repairs IN THE PITS and rejoin the race IF THEY CAN MAKE IT OUT BEFORE GOING A LAP DOWN! If a lap has been completed, or if the pit steward feels there is not enough time for the racer to safely re-enter the race before the leaders get there, you WILL NOT be allowed back in the race. Anyone ignoring the pit steward’s order to stop will be sent back off the track and disqualified.

      12. ANYONE involved in an accident, will restart in the rear of the field, with the person causing the accident at the very rear. This INCLUDES the initial green! There will be no ‘free passes’ or ‘original restarts’. All cars not involved will be lined up in the original lineup order, minus those involved in the caution. A car will be considered involved if: a) their car spins and/or comes to a complete stop, b) if they spin to an angle of 90 degrees or greater to the direction of traffic, causing a caution (in other words, if you spin, get hit and knocked straight and keep going, but leave a pileup behind, YOU caused the caution and will in turn be sent to the very rear of the field). If you make ANY significant contact with ANY other cars or the wall from the time the crash begins to develop to the time all cars are slowed and under control, you WILL be considered ‘involved’. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU EVER RACE BACK TO THE LINE! Anyone doing so will be warned ONCE. The second time we tell you, you will be PARKED for the night. WVMP Officials determination as to whether a car is “involved” or not is FINAL!

      13. Once the leader has crossed the finish line and taken the checkered flag, the race is complete. In the event of a yellow flag on the last lap of the race, those cars that have taken the checkered flag will be scored as they crossed the line. All others will be scored in the order they completed the white flag lap, except those cars involved in the accident. NO RACING BACK TO THE LINE! This is a very dangerous situation, and it will gain you NOTHING. Anyone failing to slow when the caution flies will be penalized at the discretion of the track officials.

      14. Original starts will be off turn 4, within the ‘Restart Zone” (marked by lines on the wall). The FLAGGER starts the race on ALL original starts. The front row will be given TWO CHANCES to get the start right. If a second start fails, the second row will be moved to the front row and they can try it. REMEMBER! The driver that is ahead is not necessarily the problem! Brakes checks will not be tolerated either! THE FLAGGER STARTS THE RACE! NO JUMPING! In all divisions, we will attempt an original start TWO TIMES (not including bad starts). The third start will be single file. ALL RESTARTS will be single file IN ALL DIVISIONS!. All drivers must pass outside of the restart cone at the finish line, in single file. NO PASSING BEFORE THE CONE! No driving below the cone unless it is to avoid a crash. Anyone gaining positions before the cone will be penalized one spot for each position gained.

      15. NO LYING BACK ON STARTS to get a ‘run’.

      16. If your kart stalls before the green flag is thrown, pull out of line and one person may help restart it. If it stalls a second time in any event, you will be sent to the pits. If the engine stalls during a crash, it will not count.

      17. Cars causing 3 cautions in one race will be sent to the pits. “Causing a caution” includes spinning and/or stopping to draw a caution. If you spin another car and are penalized for it, it WILL count toward the 3 spin rule. Cars getting spun out, or cars involved in ‘racing incidents’ where no car is clearly at fault, will not be charged with causing a caution.

      18. DEBRI CAUTIONS: A caution for debri will be for removal of the debri only. The car losing the debri will NOT be penalized UNLESS it is obvious in the eyes of the officials that it was intentionally throw from the car for the purpose of causing a caution.

      19. When a red flag is thrown, safely come to a complete stop AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, shut off your engine if instructed to do so, and stay with your kart. We will align the field at a safe spot on the track as soon as possible.

      20. No driver may leave their vehicle unless it is a safety hazard to remain in the vehicle, they are instructed to leave their vehicle by a track official, or they are attempting very quick, minor repairs (adult karts only) such as sliding an air filter back on, etc. Failure to follow this rule will may result in disqualification (loss of money & points for the event).

      21. Lapped Cars – Lapped cars will be shown the move over flag (blue with red stripe) when the leader gets within 10 car lengths. You are NOT required to move over and let the leader go, but as a courtesy we strongly recommend moving to the bottom and giving the leaders lots of room to go by on the outside. Remember, someday YOU may be leading and would appreciate the same consideration. If you try to hold them off and cause a problem, you can bet you will not be very popular and will most likely not be given a break anytime soon.

      22. Slight incidental contact is part of racing and we all know that it’s going to happen. However, repeated bumping, getting alongside a car and pushing them out of the way, ramming, etc. will not be tolerated and will be penalized accordingly depending on the severity of the incident. If you put a ‘slide job’ on someone, you had better make SURE you are clear. If you’re not and it causes a problem, you will be sent to the rear as well. This includes letting your kart ‘drift’ up the track, taking the kart outside with you until that kart is in the ‘marbles’.

      23. Any car going into the infield, one wheel or entire car, then coming back onto the track in order for your car to gain position(s), will be penalized one position for each car passed in the maneuver. If it causes a crash, the car will be put to the rear. The TRACK is for racing, the INFIELD is NOT! We will take into consideration whether or not the car you are passing crowded you onto the infield.

      24. When being directed to your position during a caution, please get there as quickly and safely as possible. If you question your position (and you had better be SURE about it), pull out of line and raise a hand up. We will re-check scoring, and the flagman will direct you where SCORING shows you. You will then get 2 chances to get into your position. The third time he has to tell you, you will go to the pits. You should KNOW who you we behind when the caution flew. EARN positions, don’t try to STEAL them! The only time lineups should become an issue is when two cars are side by side when they crossed the line before the caution flew. We will ALL have to accept the scoring in those cases, whether you AGREE or NOT!

      25. Stopping on the track to discuss decisions made by the flagman and/or officials will result in immediate disqualification. If you fail to leave the track, behave wrecklessly while going back to your pit, cause problems with the officials as they attempt to continue with their duties, or treat any official disrespectfully, you WILL be penalized at the discretion of the officials. Exiting your car for ANY REASON other than safety reasons, causing unnecessary delays in the restarting of the event, throwing tantrums, etc. WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND WILL BE PENALIZED AT THE DISCRETION OF WVMP MANAGEMENT AS IT SEES FIT WHEN CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES, CONTEXT, AND NATURE OF THE INFRACTION, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION GATHERED. Such penalties may be assessed at the time of the incident, or anytime prior to the next scheduled event if further investigation is needed.

      26. Unsportsmanlike behavior/bumping under caution, after the checkered flag, or in the pit area WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and WILL result in disqualification! NO EXCUSES! THIS INCLUDES UNNECESSARY HAND GESTURES OR TANTRUMS!

      27. WEIGHTS - There will be NO tolerance on weight. Parts knocked off during the race will be considered. If a vehicle comes up light, it may be re-weighed 2 more times. If the competitor fails to make weight once in three tries, they will be credited with LAST PLACE in that event. THE TOP 5 DRIVERS IN ALL RACES MUST GO STRAIGHT TO THE SCALES WHEN EXITING THE TRACK! ANYONE FAILING TO DO SO WILL BE CREDITED WITH LAST PLACE, JUST AS IF THEY CAME UP LIGHT!

      28. Cars will not be permitted to race carrying any unsecured weight or ballast. All weights must be painted white and have car number marked on it. Weights must be securely fastened with locknuts, double nutted, or must be drilled and secured with a cotter key. Cars losing a weight be sent off the track and credited with LAST PLACE in that event.

      29. All competitors are subject to fuel tech by means of a water test or hydrometer test. NO ADDITIVES will be allowed unless specifically stated in that division’s rules. In extreme circumstances, a fuel sample may be taken and sent out for testing. Racer’s pay will be held until sample is cleared. If it comes back illegal, pay will be forfeited toward expense of lab test.

      30. Cars not going directly to the tech area from the track as instructed will be disqualified.

      31. The Speedway has the right to inspect ANY part of ANY car at ANY time. Any car refusing a tear down/inspection will be considered illegal & will be disqualified. Any car found to be illegal will lose all points/money for that day’s events. They will also be required to pass the same tech before being allowed to compete in any future events.

  1. HANDICAPPING/POINTS SYSTEM

  1.
    1.
      1. All cars must run in the heats to which they are assigned.

      2. HANDICAPPING

        1.
          1. HEAT STARTING ORDER - Heat starting order to be determined by pill draw.

          2. FEATURE STARTING ORDER - The top 3 heat finishers will redraw AT THE ENTRY FEE WINDOW WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF THE FINISH OF THE LAST HEAT IN THAT DIVISION. The rest of the field will be lined up in heads up fashion. Driver’s redrawing will redraw in order of their finishes (1st place, heat 1 – 1st place, heat 2 – 2nd place, heat1, etc.). Any driver not present will get the last redraw spot (6th, if 6 drivers are to redraw).

          3. DRAW REPRESENTATIVES – For any pill draw, a driver may have a representative draw for them.

      3. Registering Car Numbers: Numbers for the 2008 season may be reserved as of December 17th, 2007. Once a number has been run and earned points, that driver will retain that number for the year.

      4. Duplicate Numbers: In the event that someone enters a car with a number that has already been registered, the driver entering later must change theirs or add a letter using tape, or any method so as to make it identifiable for the scorers. This MUST be done on BOTH sides of the car.

      5. NUMBER MARKINGS:

        1.
          1. Karts - Must have numbers on both sides (minimum 6” tall, 1” thick, not including any outlines or shadows) and front (minimum 4” tall, .1/2” thick not including any outlines or shadows).

          2. Slingshots - Must have numbers on both sides (minimum 12” tall, 1 1/2” thick, not including any outlines or shadows) and front (minimum 4” tall, 1/2” thick, not including any outlines or shadows).

          3. Micros - Must have numbers on both sides of wing (minimum 12” tall, 2” thick, not including any outlines or shadows), both sides of tail (minimum 8” tall, 1 1/4” thick, not including any outlines or shadows), and front (minimum 6” tall, 1” thick, not including any outlines or shadows)

          4. All cars should be lettered in a manner such as to be easily legible and in a color that contrasts so that it can be read easily by the scorers. Any letters must be at least ½ the height of the number. The scorers have the right to request that any cars with numbers that are difficult to read be changed. Competitor will have 1 week to comply with requested change.

      6. MAXIMUM CARS TO START HEATS: 8

        1.
          1. In the event that there are more entries in a division than there are feature starting spots, the number of heat qualifiers will be posted on the lineups. A B-Main will be run, with at least 2 drivers transferring to the A-Main. The A-Main finishers will be awarded the appropriate points, with the B-Main finishers falling in line for points earned (for instance, 12 A-Main starters, 1st thru 12th points – 1st B-Main non-qualifier 13th points, 2nd non-qualifier 14th points, and so on) If an A-Main starter cannot make the grid and a bubble car takes their place, the bubble car will earn points for their actual finish. The car unable to start will get the points the bubble car would have gotten (most likely, points as the first non-qualifier).

          2. BUBBLE CARS: If a B-Main has been run, the 1st car to fail to qualify will be the ‘Bubble Car’. This driver should be buckled in and ready to race when the feature for their division rolls out. If any car is unable to make the call to the line or drops out before the initial green, the bubble car may join in at the rear of the field as the cars come by on the white flag lap. Once the initial green flag has flown, the bubble car must be taken back to their pits and will not be allowed to enter the event, even if the first lap is not completed without a car being damaged and unable to continue.

      7. MAXIMUM CARS TO START FEATURES (Special events may vary – will be announced beforehand).

        1.
          1. YOUTH KARTS: 12

          2. ADULT KARTS: 14

          3. SLINGSHOTS: 16

              16. 24

Will continue to drop by 1 point until reaching 10 points. All finishers from there back will earn 10 points.

  1.
    1.
      1. BONUS POINTS: The number of cars entered in a division will be added to the points earned by each car entered (example: Winner earns 60 points, finished 3rd in the heat, 9 cars were entered in that division. Their total point for the day would be 60+1+9 = 70 points).

        1.
          1. Cars entering and making at least one lap during the day (practice, heat, or feature) will be awarded the bonus points. The only exception is if a driver is DQ’d).

      2. EACH DRIVER MAY THROW AWAY THEIR WORST POINTS DAY.

        1.
          1. The following MAY count as a driver’s throwaway race:

            2. Their worst points day total (deducts from their total points earned

            3. A race in which a penalty of being dropped to a last place finish is assessed (for example, not making weight or losing a weight during a race)

          2. A DQ for disciplinary reasons or for failing tech MAY NOY count as a driver’s throwaway race.

      3. PENALTIES:

        1.
          1. All penalties for behavioral reasons will be determined by WVMP officials after consideration of circumstances, number of offenses, severity of offense, etc. The penalty may be assessed on the spot or at any time prior to the next race event if WVMP officials feel further investigation is warranted. POOR SPORTSMANSHIP WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND PENALTIES WILL BE HARSH! Penalties may be in the form of DQ, suspension, fine, points, or any other method WVMP officials deem fit. Among the actions we will not tolerate:

            1.
              1. Fighting/Striking another individual

              2. Maliciously damaging another’s property

              3. Excessive profanity

              4. Obscene gestures/Taunting others

              5. Speeding/Wreckless operation of ANY vehicle in the pit or parking areas

              6. Refusing to follow the order of any WVMP official

              7. Any action not mentioned that WVMP officials deem detrimental to racing at our facility

          2. POSSIBLE PENALTIES:

            1. DQ = Loss of all points and awards for that days event.

            2. Suspension = Violator will not be allowed in pit area during the suspension. If violator causes any problems in grandstands, will they will be removed and will not be allowed on track premises until suspension is served.

            3. Fine = Monetary penalty assessed to an individual for unsportsmanlike conduct. Anyone ordered to pay a fine and refusing to do so will not be permitted to attend future WVMP events until fine is paid. If it is a car owner or crew/family member, their driver will not be allowed to compete again until fine is paid. ALL FINES MUST BE PAID IN CASH! Fine money will go into the point fund for that competitors division.

          3. FAILING TECH INSPECTION: Any driver whose equipment fails tech inspection will be disqualified. In the event that the infraction in question is a “grey area” not clearly stated in the rules, the driver will not be disqualified. A clarification on the rule as to what is and what is not permitted will be made to ALL competitors before the next event.

          4. REFUSING TECH: Any refusal of inspection/testing of a racers equipment will be taken as an admission of guilt and that driver will be DQ’d. Additionally, that car may not compete at WVMP until it passes that same test/inspection. DON’T SHOW UP NEXT WEEK WITH A NEW DRIVER AND SAY YOU SOLD THE CAR… IT WON’T FLY! THE NEW OWNER WILL BE REQUIRED TO ALLOW TESTING/INSPECTION BEFORE RACING!!!

          5. TECH PROTESTS:

            1. Visual Protest - $50 (All Divisions)

              1. A visual protest includes anything not requiring use of any tool (flashlight or regular tape measure not included) for disassembly or checking. Violation must be visible to the eye.

            2. Engine Tear-Down - $200 (All Kart Divisions EXCEPT Sportsman Divisions)

              1. $25 will go to the tech inspector for his labor.

              2. Remaining $175 will go to the protestor if illegal, to protestee if legal.

              3. Teardown will include checking of cylinder head, valve train, carb, flywheel, bore/stroke, block, breather, crank. Inspection will be performed by WVMP official in such a manner as to satisfy said official that engine complies to the rules.

                1. Disassembly will be done by competitor in the WVMP tech area. Only the competitor, car owner, or engine builder may be present. The protestor must remain outside the tech area, but teardown will be performed in view so they know it was done.

                2. If there is something questionable inside engine, WVMP reserves the right to confiscate engine until clarification from WKA or a minimum of 3 reputable engine builders can be obtained. Refusal to allow this process will result in a DQ.

              4. Protest must be presented in writing, with the appropriate protest amount in cash, to a tech official within 10 minutes of the first driver in that race reaching the scales.

                1. Only drivers or owners in the same division may file a protest.

                2. A person may only protest 1 car per night, 3 cars per season.

                3. This is NOT your right to tear apart racecars! We have the right to refuse any protest if we feel it is being done for malicious purposes!
